**The PVCM40D-MPT charge controller is only compatible with the SEDM6-40 display unit (A0444). They ARE NOT interchangeable with other parts from other kits.**
If you’re ready to update your trailer charge controller to smart 6 stage charging, here is a drop in replacement that keeps the factory look. You can use the old display or update to the new display.
The 40 Amp solar charge module with Multi Point Tracking (MPT) controller (PVCM40D-MPT) is a rugged inline solar charge controller. It uses Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) to control the solar charge current. The controller delivers the maximum charging rates throughout each of the charging stages and connects between your 12VDC storage batteries. The controller was designed as a drop-in replacement for the SunExplorer PVCM40D-SE2 Controls.
The PVCM25D-MPT is fully encapsulated and can operate in the wide temperature ranges and harsh environments. It is a micro-processer based, photo voltaic charge controller with temperature compensation that is used for AGM, gel or flooded batteries. It automatically charges your battery to 100% and keeps the battery in float stage. If your battery gets to low, it goes into Automatic Boost Mode keeping your batteries full and extending the life of your batteries.
The PVCM40D-MPT can handle up to 700 Watts but check the current rating on the solar panel because each manufacturer can be slightly different.

We changed to the new solar controller to keep our lifeline batteries in top shape. After an easy installation and coating all connections with some copper oxide, including the battery cables, the final fuse was put back in and the controller went through its cycling. With the sun overhead, the battery was getting 14.2 volts. Abner was a great help in advice on the operation and installation. If you have an Airstream with factory solar, installing this new controller will be a battery life saver. You'll know your batteries are being charged fully and more efficiently.
